Connie Hüsser presents Objects with Love
During her career, the Swiss journalist and stylist Connie Hüsser has been fascinated by young talent, special forms, and striking pieces. Her assignments for the furniture brand Vitra and the magazine Annabelle bring her in touch with designers from around the world on a daily basis. She selects, adopts, collects, arranges, and curates items that she labels “Objects with Love.” Where design becomes too far-fetched for many, her passion only starts.
At the request of the Biennale Interieur, the Belgian event on contemporary design and living, Hüsser turned her passion into an exhibition for INTERIEUR 2018. She carefully selected objects made with an eye for detail and that bring freshness into a world dominated by industrialized forms, with a focus on the handmade, craftsmanship, and liberty of forms. The result was an explosion of colors and a childlike presentation made with unrestrained fantasy.
Hüsser presents a continuation of this at Design Miami/ Basel, with selections by Bertjan Pot, Harvey Bouterse, Sabine Marcelis, Nick Ross, and Wang & Söderström. Vases, bookstands, chandeliers, and sculptural elements are featured on the same platform as sponges, bowls, masks, and mirrors. This unexpected selection of objects made by international young and contemporary designers brings together the digital and physical, combining new materiality with modern technology.
Connie Hüsser was awarded with the Swiss Grand Award for Design. To find out more about her work visit www.swissdesignawards.ch and the exhibition Swiss Design Awards at Hall 3, Messe Basel.
